Arlington software firm buys S.C. company

Higher Logic acquires Charleston-based Customer Imperative

Published July 29, 2020 by Sydney Lake

Arlington-based software developer Higher Logic announced Wednesday has acquired Charleston, South Carolina-based Customer Imperative.

A transaction amount was not disclosed.

Higher Logic offers an online engagement and communications platform, while Customer Imperative focuses on client management.

“Today more than ever, the need to clearly understand and drive customer success is a core business requirement,” Higher Logic CEO Kevin Boyce said in a statement. “Adding the industry expertise of Customer Imperative and the unique insights of the Gain Grow Retain community to Higher Logic allows us to rapidly advance our mission in the customer success world and further our ongoing commitment to the association space.”

As part of the acquisition, Customer Imperative Founder Jay Nathan will join Higher Logic as chief customer officer and lead the Gain Grow Retain community. The Higher Logic platform has grown to more than 3,000 members during the past six months. Under the acquisition, it will remain as an independent entity within Higher Logic to expand the company’s content, tools and resources for members. Customer Imperative Managing Partner Jeff Breunsbach will become Higher Logic’s director of customer experience and oversee Gain Grow Retain operations.

“At Customer Imperative, we had a unique opportunity to step into a void and create a community where customer success leaders could show their work, learn from one another, and grow professionally,” Nathan said in a statement. “We are proud to be part of this community and excited to become a part of Higher Logic, which will allow us to take our vision to the next level.”

Higher Logic currently has more than 3,000 customers and 50 million users across 21 countries.
