Breeden Construction tapped to build apartment complexes

Virginia Beach-based firm is general contractor for the projects, valued at $105 million.

Published December 12, 2019 by Sydney Lake

Virginia Beach-based Breeden Construction LLC has been named general contractor for apartment complexes in Richmond, Hampton Roads and Northern Virginia valued at a total of approximately $105 million, Breeden announced this week.

Construction began in fall 2019 on the Hampton Roads and Richmond properties and the Northern Virginia property will begin in early 2020.

The Hampton Roads housing development, The Villas at Reid Landing, is owned by Gardner Suffolk LLC and is a $7.9 million, 51-unit senior-living apartment complex for ages 55 and up. Richmond’s architectural firm Winks Snowa is working on the project as well as Land Planning Solutions of Suffolk, the project’s civil engineer. The anticipated completion date is January 2021.

Watkins Center Apartments is a $30.3 million, 200-unit apartment complex set to be built in Richmond and is owned by Charlottesville’s Watkins Associates LLC. The architectural firm and civil engineering firms are Fugleberg Koch and Collins Engineering of Charlottesville, respectively. It’s scheduled for completion in July 2021.

Owned by Community Housing Partners of Richmond and Pennrose of Philadelphia, the Residences at North Hill in Fairfax will be a $68.8 million, 279-unit apartment complex offering affordable and workforce housing.  The architect is Richmond-based Mosley Architects and the civil engineer is Fairfax-based Christopher Consultants LTD. December 2021 is the scheduled completion date for the project.

With offices in Richmond and Virginia Beach, Breeden was ranked by Virginia Business this year as the ninth-largest general contracting firm in Virginia.
