CAVA opens second Richmond-area restaurant
CAVA, a fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant, opened its second restaurant in the Richmond area on Thursday at Short Pump Town Center in western Henrico County.
Its other location is in Richmond’s Fan District neighborhood. The Short Pump restaurant is part of a series of openings in 2017 that will take the number of CAVA locations nationwide to more than 40, with 14 in Virginia.
The expansion is the result of a recent round of funding for the Washington, D.C, based company. Its investors include Steve Case’s D.C.-based investment firm, Revolution Growth.
“We’re excited to bring the vibrant flavors of CAVA to the Richmond community’s thriving food scene,” CEO Brett Schulman, said in a statement.
The restaurant chain, started by three first-generation Greek childhood friends, combines traditional Greek and Mediterranean cooking in a casual, modern setting. CAVA also has a product line of dips and spreads available at more than 200 Whole Foods Markets and other specialty grocery stores.
The Short Pump restaurant at 11800 W Broad St. is 6,513 square feet and can seat 125 people.
