Chantilly-based OGSystems acquires Oregon-based Urban Robotics

Published March 5, 2015 by Robert Powell, III

Chantilly-based OGSystems has acquired Oregon-based Urban Robotics, a provider of advanced airborne military intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance applications.

Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

OGS employs more than 300 geospatial engineers, software developers, data scientists and mission subject matter experts in the areas of cybersecurity, geospatial intelligence, and big-data analytics. Its primary customers are the Department of Defense and the intelligence community.

Besides Chantilly, the company has regional offices in Tampa, St. Louis, Seattle and San Diego.

“The Urban Robotics acquisition complements OGS by matching our entrepreneurial and idea-driven culture and furthering our reputation for geospatial engineering innovation,” Omar Balkissoon, CEO of OGSystems, said in a statement. “OGS is at the forefront of airborne data collection, and the incredibly detailed and immersive 3D point clouds Urban Robotics creates will help us continue to push the envelope in geospatial data fusion.”

Urban Robotics will remain based in Portland, Ore.
