Chantilly lab acquired by food safety tech developer

Iowa-based food safety technology developer FoodChain ID has acquired Chantilly-based Diversified Laboratories.

Financial terms of the deal have yet to be disclosed.

FoodChain ID has more than 30,000 clients in 100 countries and supplies them with testing, inspecting, certifying and consulting services.

Diversified is an independent analytical laboratory specializing in the detection of pesticide, chemical and antibiotic residues and quality measurements in human food and animal feed products.

“We believe the combination with FoodChain ID will enable us to expand our customer base globally, develop new testing methodologies, and enhance our technical capabilities,” said Diversified Laboratories CEO Peter Kendrick in a statement. “As part of FoodChain ID, we will be able to offer testing solutions across the food supply chain and will offer services that are even more comprehensive to our customers.”

In June, FoodChain ID also acquired Washington, D.C.-based Decernis LLC, a company that delivered global compliance and risk management systems and services in the food, consumer products and chemical sectors.
