Cigna has named Dr. Vaishali Geib as medical executive for its mid-Atlantic market, which covers Virginia, the District of Columbia and Maryland, the global health services company announced Friday.

In her new role, Geib will focus on physician and hospital system collaboration, network development, client growth and retention, quality improvement and total medical cost reduction.

Geib has worked for 20 years in Virginia’s medical industry. She worked in McLean in private practice in internal medicine at ReshapeMD LLC and served as medical director of quality and health population at Privia Health LLC in Arlington.

“Dr. Geib has the right mix of skills that will help Cigna deliver on our promise to improve affordability and quality of care for our customers and clients,” Cigna Senior Medical Director Dr. Christina Stasiuk said in a statement. “Dr. Geib will play an important consultative role with our employer clients and health care providers as we all work together to deliver a more sustainable health care system in the mid-Atlantic market.”

Geib earned her medical degree from the University of Missouri-Kansas City and completed her residency in integral medicine at Johns Hopkins University/Sinai Hospital.

She is licensed in Virginia and is a member of the American Board of Internal Medicine.
