Stephen Edwards, a Los Angeles-based CEO with more than two decades of maritime industry experience, will be the Virginia Port Authority’s new CEO and executive director. A U.K. native, Edwards is currently president and CEO of TraPac LLC, which operates container terminals in the ports of Los Angeles and Oakland, California. He replaces John F. Reinhart, who is retiring in March 2021 after six years helming Virginia’s ports system. (VirginiaBusiness.com)

Norfolk-based Sentara Healthcare has named Tim Skeen senior vice president and chief information officer. Skeen most recently worked for Anthem Inc., where he was chief operating officer and had also served as enterprise chief information officer, overseeing Anthem’s technology and government business divisions. Skeen also previously worked as CIO for Amerigroup, chief technology officer with Molina Health and CIO of health information management at Unisys. (VirginiaBusiness.com)

Roessler Jr.

Fairfax County Police Chief Edwin C. Roessler Jr. announced in November that he plans to step down in February, capping a nearly eight-year stint that brought major reforms to Virginia’s largest local police department. The move comes amid criticism over Roessler’s leadership and complaints of low morale, although department officials said Roessler had planned the move for more than a year. The department is among the 40 largest in the nation. (The Washington Post)

Lenowisco Health District leader Dr. Eleanor Sue Cantrell announced in early November she will retire Jan. 1, 2021. She became director in 1991 and served for several years as interim director of the Cumberland Plateau Health District until her permanent appointment in 2016. The search for the next health director for the health districts has begun. (The Coalfield Progress)

Fritts

Lara Fritts resigned as president and CEO of the Greater Richmond Partnership effective Nov. 30, according to an email sent to the public-private economic development organization’s investors. Fritts joined the organization in August 2019. COO Jennifer Wakefield will serve as interim president and CEO as the partnership’s board launches a search for Fritts’ permanent replacement. Tony Johnson
Tony Johnson

Cedar Fair Entertainment Co. announced in late October the retirement of Tony Johnson, vice president and general manager of its Kings Dominion amusement park in Hanover County. Under Johnson, who became Kings Dominion’s general manager in February 2018, the park launched its first hybrid roller coaster Twisted Timbers, its first WinterFest and family festivals such as Grand Carnivale. He will retire on Jan. 3, 2021, and will be replaced by Bridgette Bywater. (VirginiaBusiness.com)
