Draper Aden Associates expands presence in Hampton Roads

Published July 13, 2017 by Paula C. Squires

Draper Aden Associates (DAA) is expanding its presence in Hampton Roads.

The Blacksburg-based engineering, surveying, and environmental services firm, said Thursday that it will open an office in Virginia Beach the week of July 17 with a five-member staff.

It will be located at 109 S. Lynnhaven Rd. in the Widgeon Professional Center. The office will be Draper Aden’s second location in Hampton Roads. The firm has an existing office in Newport News.

“Delivering new opportunities to better serve our clients is at the heart of who we are,” Jeff Lighthiser, the company’s CEO and president, said in a statement.  “This expansion signifies our commitment to the region and to making a lasting positive impact.”

The new 2,500-square-foot location will provide multidisciplinary engineering and consulting services.

Among the new staffers is David Barton. He will serve as DAA’s director of aerial services. According to DAA, Barton has worked with the federal government, military, and private companies on a wide variety of technology, scanning, and unmanned aerial system/drone projects.

DAA currently works with clients in South Hampton Roads in a variety of industry sectors including higher education, athletics, private developers and the public sector.

The expansion represents the second new office for the firm this year, with the other office in Raleigh, N.C.  The Virginia Beach office will give the company nine locations in Virginia and North Carolina. The other Virginia offices are located in Richmond, Charlottesville and Northern Virginia.
