FCi Federal named to Inc.’s list of fastest-growing women-led companies

Published September 17, 2015 by Veronica Garabelli

Ashburn-based FCi Federal has been named the only Virginia company to Inc. magazine’s “Impact 50” list. The list, published for the first time in 2015, honors America’s 50 fastest-growing women-led companies within the Inc. 5000.

The Inc. 5000 is a ranking of the nation’s fastest-growing private companies, based on three-year revenue growth.

FCi Federal provides business process outsourcing for government agencies, including the Departments of State and Treasury, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Ranked No. 17 on the Impact 50 list, the company has grown 219 percent in the past three years, with 2014 revenues of $108 million.

From 2011 to 2014, FCi  added 2,184 employees and now employs 3,000 individuals.  Founded in 1991, the company has been named to the Inc. 5000 for the past four years, ranking 1815 on this year’s list.

In a letter to FCi’s founder and CEO Sharon Virts, Inc.’s President and Editor-in-Chief Eric Schurenberg said that while the list is selected from the Inc. 5000, “it stands on its own as attribute to the growing leadership of women entrepreneurs.”

He also stated that Virts and the other 49 members of this year’s Impact 50 demonstrate what “entrepreneurism will look like in the future – fueled, in part, by the rise of female role models at the helm of America’s most successful companies.”

A Loudoun County native, Virts serves as the vice chair of the Loudon County Economic Development Commission, a member of the CEO Cabinet of the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce, a board member of the Dulles Corridor Rail association, and a member of 100WomenStrong, a nonprofit organization helping to improve the lives of the citizens of Loudoun County.
