Former CIA data science chief hired as CEO of Exovera

Software company is subsidiary of Reston-based SOSi

Reston-based defense and government contractor SOS International LLC (SOSi) announced Wednesday it has hired Barbara Stevens, the former Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) chief of data science, as CEO of its software subsidiary Exovera.

“Dr. Stevens has more than three decades of experience building and leading complex data science programs for the U.S. intelligence community,” SOSi President and CEO Julian Setian said in a statement. “Her expertise and insights will help us optimize the big data solutions we are developing to accelerate their adoption and ease their integration into government analytic workflows and agency operations.”

Stevens is the recipient of the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal. She has also worked as an industry consultant, specializing in big data analytics, cloud migration and corporate diversity.

Exovera develops software for data collection, exploitation and analysis for government clients. Founded in 1989, SOSi provides foreign language services to federal and state law enforcement customers.
