Houston-based national generator franchise Generator Supercenter announced Friday it has signed the lease for a 6,000-square-foot space at the Ashburn Crossing business park in Loudoun County, its first location in Virginia. The company plans to eventually have six locations in the commonwealth.

The lease amount has not been disclosed.

Generator Supercenter provides emergency generators for residential and commercial properties, manufactured by Generac Holdings Inc., a Fortune 1000 generator manufacturer. There are currently 20 Generator Supercenters across Florida, Georgia, North Carolina and Texas.

The first Virginia franchise will be located at 21005 Ashburn Crossing Drive and will have 15 to 20 employees. The 61-acre Ashburn Crossing business park is owned and leased by St. John Properties. The business park is located less than two miles from One Loudoun, Dulles Town Center, Redskins Park, Top Golf and I-Fly. With Generator Supercenter’s lease, Ashburn Crossing has reached nearly 97% occupancy.

The plan is for the location to be operational later this summer. The franchise owner is Clarke Home Solutions, which has signed a lease with St. John Properties. Marc Tasker and Keenan Woofter of NAI KLNB represented the tenant, and Danny Foit, a St. John Properties leasing representative, represented the landlord in the transaction.

The company intends to use the Ashburn Crossing location “as a launch point and main hub for the Virginia expansion and operations,” franchise owner Steve Monaghan, vice president of Clark Home Solutions, said in a statement. The franchise has also recently purchased a former Ruby Tuesday building in the Richmond area, which is expected to open during the year’s fourth quarter. Charlottesville, Roanoke, Winchester and Virginia Beach locations are expected to open over the next four years.

“As a long-time resident of Northern Virginia, I am extremely familiar with the tremendous demographics of the region and we specifically targeted the Ashburn area to take advantage of the strength of the business and consumer economic climate,” Monaghan said in a statement. “The Ashburn Crossing site will be configured as a showroom for customers to examine our product line, as well as an operational center for our installation, maintenance and repair team servicing the entire Northern Virginia area.”
