Heavy Seas Alehouse coming to Rosslyn

Monday Properties has signed a long-term lease with Heavy Seas Alehouse, the popular Baltimore, Md., restaurant and craft brewery, at 1501 Wilson Blvd. in Rosslyn.

This is the first addition to the original Heavy Seas Alehouse location.

The restaurant will occupy 5,495 square feet of ground floor retail space at the base of the 126,000-square-foot office tower.  Monday Properties recently finalized a $2.5 million capital improvement project to renovate the lobbies, increase the retail frontage and update the façade at 1501 and 1515 Wilson Boulevard. 

Heavy Seas Alehouse is scheduled to open in the fourth quarter of 2013.

Tim Helmig, executive vice president and chief development officer at Monday Properties, said in a statement,  “This is a wonderful addition for everyone who works or lives in Arlington County.  This transaction is a real testament to the vibrancy of Rosslyn, a 24/7 community with thousands of residents within walking distance.”

Michael Morris of Cana Development represented Heavy Seas Alehouse in the lease transaction.  Monday Properties was represented in-house by John Wharton as well as co-brokered by Tom Papadopoulos of Papadopoulos Properties.

Heavy Seas Alehouse will join several other restaurants opening in Rosslyn in the coming months.  Caffe Aficionado, a coffee bar, will open in the Waterview Conference Center.  Fro.Zen.Yo, a self-service yogurt shop, will open at International Place, and Panera Bread will open in the Rosslyn Metro Mall.
