Leidos wins $7.7B Navy contract

Reston-based defense contractor will manage shore-based NAVWAR networks.

Reston-based defense contractor Leidos has been awarded a $7.7 billion contract by the Naval Information Warfare Systems Command (NAVWAR) to operate and maintain shore-based networks and data management for several departments of the Navy, the company announced last week.

NAVWAR is the Navy’s technical authority and acquisition command for its business IT and space systems.

Leidos was awarded the contract under the Next Generation Enterprise Network Recompete Service Management, Integration & Transport contract. Leidos will provide service management, integration and transport used on the Navy Marine Corps Intranet, the outside continental U.S. Naval Enterprise Network and the Marine Corps Enterprise Network through software delivery and network operations. The contract has a five-year base period, followed by three one-year option periods.

Leidos was founded in 1969 and reported annual revenues of approximately $10.19 billion for the fiscal year that ended Dec. 28, 2018. Since Feb. 3, Leidos has acquired Huntsville, Alabama-based national security services provider Dynetics Inc. for $1.65 billion in cash and L3Harris Technologies’ Security Detection and Automation businesses for $1 billion in cash.
