Lickinghole Creek to open production facility in Lynchburg and expand Goochland operations

Lickinghole Creek Craft Brewery plans to open a new production brewery in Lynchburg and expand its current facility in Goochland.

The $14 million investment is expected to create 59 new jobs over the next three years. The expansion of its Goochland location will include a new 50,000-square-foot production brewery that will feature a new brewing system and packaging line. The expansion will allow the company to increase its production, introduce a lager-beer program, and add a large new tap room and event space.

In Lynchburg, the new brewery will be focused on sour beer production and barrel-aged brews.

Lickinghole Creek’s increased production capacity will allow the company to continue to meet the growing demand from its existing markets, as well as enter new ones.

The brewery, which opened in 2013 on a 290-acre farm where it grows many of the ingredients used in its beer, has committed to using Virginia agricultural products.

Gov. Terry McAuliffe approved a $250,000 grant from the Governor’s Agriculture and Forestry Industries Development (AFID) Fund for the expansion in Goochland, and a $50,000 AFID grant for the new facility in Lynchburg. Both grants will be matched with local funds. Additional funding and services to support the company’s employee training activities will be provided through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program.
