Lisa Meriwether, tourism sales manager for Lynchburg’s Office of Economic Development and Tourism, has been named president of the board of directors of Meeting Professionals International’s Virginia chapter.

Meriwether was installed as chapter president on June 30 and will serve on the board’s executive committee, responsible for working with the office of the president on chapter business plans, budget, chapter operations and board succession planning.

She has been appointed to the board six times during her 30-year hospitality and sales career. As tourism sales manager with Lynchburg, she sells the city as a destination for meetings, conventions, sporting events and leisure travel.

Meriwether has also previously served as president of the Virginia Association of Convention & Visitors Bureaus (now Virginia Association of Destination Marketing Organizations) and on committees for the Virginia Tourism Corp. and the Virginia Restaurant, Lodging & Travel Association (VRLTA).
