New Kroger Marketplace opens in Chester on Wednesday

Published October 20, 2015 by Paula C. Squires

The Kroger Co. will hold a grand opening Wednesday for the Richmond region’s newest Kroger Marketplace store in the Chester area of Chesterfield County.

The 123,000-square-foot store is located at 10800 Ironbridge Road near the county’s courthouse complex. It employs 360 people in full- and part-time jobs.

Jim Holland, Dale District Supervisor, Chesterfield Board of Supervisors, said the store represents a $27 million investment.
Like other Kroger superstores, this one provides space for nongrocery products. There’s 30,000 square feet for items ranging from apparel to home décor, pet supplies, toys, and baby and infant needs.

Other amenities include a cheese shop, a growler station with 12 rotating selections of local and craft brews and a wine department and wine bar with eight wines on tap for in-store tastings.
The store also has A Little Clinic.  On its staff are board-certified nurse practitioners authorized to diagnose, treat and write prescriptions for common illnesses. They also can provide additional services such as camp and sports physicals, health screenings and a number of vaccinations.

There’s also a Kroger Fuel Center, a deli bistro with seating, a drive-thru pharmacy and a Starbucks kiosk, with seating area and free Wi-Fi.
