Shockey announces new hires and promotions

Published March 10, 2014 by Paula C. Squires

Andrea Rogers

Howard Shockey & Sons Inc. in Winchester announced two new senior management hires to expand the firm’s expertise in the growing medical and biotechnology construction sectors.

Tommy Tortorich has been named project manager. Tortorich specializes in construction for health-care, pharmaceutical and biotechnology clients. Previously with HITT Contracting and StructureTone in Northern Virginia, Tortorich has headed design-build and fast-track projects such as the Howard Hughes Medical Institute and medical office building consolidations for Kaiser Permanente.

Brett Kass also has been named project manager. Kass also specializes in construction for health-care and biotechnology clients, having built more than 2 million square feet of health-care projects for clients such as Kaiser Permanente, Inova Health System and the U.Va. Medical Center. Kass was formerly employed by Jacobs, Turner Construction and Barton Malow.

Andrea Rogers has been tapped to expand Shockey’s business development and marketing in the greater Washington D.C. area, including Northern Virginia and suburban Maryland.  In her new role, Rogers will be responsible for developing new client relationships and managing existing relationships. Rogers joined Shockey in 2012 as a marketing research specialist.

Howard Shockey & Sons Inc. is a member of The Shockey Cos., a privately held consortium of construction firms.  The firm provides preconstruction, general contracting, design-build, construction management services and public-private partnerships for a broad range of public and private sector projects in Virginia, the Washington D.C. metro area, Maryland and West Virginia.

Project delivery teams are based in Winchester, Roanoke and Richmond.
