The New York Times renews 35,000 square feet at World Trade Center

The New York Times Shared Service Center Inc. has renewed a 35,000-square-foot lease for 10 years at the World Trade Center in Norfolk.

The Times’ service center, in Norfolk since 1996, houses numerous business functions for The New York Times Co.

The World Trade Center is a nine-story, Class A office tower with 366,106 square feet at the intersection of Main and Boush Streets, directly across the street from Town Point Park.

Charlotte Herndon, president of the NYT Shared Service Center, said the company considered its options for future business needs since the lease was ending. “The World Trade Center’s central location, downtown amenities and professional business environment helped us decide to remain in downtown Norfolk.  Our strong relationships with the city of Norfolk and with Harbor Group also factored into our decision to stay.”

Jordan E. Slone, chairman and CEO of Harbor Group International, the building’s owner, said,  “We believe strongly in the vitality of downtown Norfolk and are delighted that NYT Shared Service Center shares this vision.”

Deborah Stearns and Wes Edwards of Jones Lang LaSalle represented the World Trade Center while Perry Frazer and Lang Williams of CBRE represented the NYT Shared Service Center.
