William & Mary business school cited for environmental awareness

The Mason School of Business at the College of William & Mary has been named one of the nation’s “10 Environmentally-Aware Business Schools,” according to a list released by MBAPrograms.org.

The ranking cited a 2011 McKinsey & Co. survey that found more companies are integrating sustainability principles that could improve processes, promote growth and value to their names beyond reputation alone. In short, green business is good business.

The ranking focuses on 10 business programs that “are doing their part” for sustainability and how many are training the next generation of leaders to push for a more eco-focused business culture.
In 2011, BusinessWeek ranked the Mason School of Business’s undergraduate program first nationally in sustainability thanks to its green-focused initiatives and courses such as Green Supply Chain and Environmental Consulting. The school received recognition for its eco-friendly structures in 2010, when Miller Hall received a LEED Gold Certification.

Other schools on the list include Georgetown University’s McDonough School of Business, Miami University of Ohio’s Farmer School of Business, Mills College’s Lokey Graduate School of Business,
Simmons College’s School of Management, Stanford Graduate School of Business, University of California Davis Graduate School of Management, University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business and University of South Carolina’s Moore School of Business.
