Wytheville Community College names new president

Published April 20, 2015 by Robert Powell, III

Dean E. Sprinkle, of Statesville, N.C., will become the next president at Wytheville Community College on July 1.

Sprinkle, currently senior vice president of instruction at Wilkes Community College in Wilkesboro, N.C., will replace President Charlie White, who is retiring.

Sprinkle has held his current position at Wilkes Community  since 2010. He previously was vice president of instruction and student services at the college from 2005 to 2010 and served as dean of student services from 2003 to 2005 and institutional effectiveness officer from 1997 to 2003.

Sprinkle first joined Wilkes Community as a counselor in 1992, after serving as staff psychologist for Tri-County Mental Health of Statesville and for Wake County Mental Health in Raleigh, N.C.

Sprinkle holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, a master’s in clinical psychology from Western Carolina University, a bachelor’s from North Carolina State University and an associate degree from Lees McRae College in Banner Elk, N.C.

Wytheville Community College is the 16th largest of Virginia’s 23 community colleges with 3,302 full- and part-time students enrolled last fall.
