Recently read books: “Talking to Strangers: What We Should Know about the People We Don’t Know,” by Malcolm Gladwell and “A Question of Freedom: A Memoir of Learning, Survival, and Coming of Age in Prison,” by Reginald Dwayne Betts

Favorite vacation spot: Almost any place that is warm and sunny.
Career mentors: My former managing attorney, Phillip Boone; attorney Marcus Scriven; and attorney Janet James.
Where are you seeing gaps in pro bono services in your district?
Through joint efforts with our bench and local bar associations, I have seen growth in the number of attorneys volunteering. While we have to be able to provide some legal assistance to low- to moderate-income people, there are still gaps that need to be filled in pro bono services, especially for divorce and bankruptcy cases.
